My biggest annoyance…singers who write a poem and hand it to me saying they wrote a song telling me to put music to it…hello, me writing music to go with your poem does NOT mean you are a songwriter…learn to play an instrument or at the very least, have a melody in mind for your little poem.

Nice well thought out tips. Especially the last one, another way I like to express it is this way. What do diamond miners find mostly by far in their work? “dirt and rocks”.
But if they let it depress them they would never find the diamonds.
So you’re right, get good at pulling rocks out and don’t worry about how many diamonds you find, they’ll always be rare, but then they wouldn’t be special otherwise.

You could play Paul McCartney in a bio-pic if you dyed your hair!

This Chris Martin lookalike seems like a really great guy. I knew all these things already (I also learned them the hard way). But it was still very fun to listen to him speak of this topic.

I knew some of this already, but it was still pretty helpful. Thanks <3 But I do have one problem…I need help getting second opinions from people who will be impartial, and thus honest! So if some of you could please go to my YouTube channel (click on my name) and comment on how good you think one or two of my songs are, and what could be improved, that would be great! Thanks!

How many Harry Potter ballads are out there?
November 10th, 2011 - 11:01
First tip is good to hear, most of my songs are very personal. Very nice, I do save my lyrics in my computer, I also save a “rough draft” acapella version. I have forgotten several by the time I get somewhere I can write it down, it is annoying haha
You are a very good song writer, mine are mediocre at best he he. Yeah, most do not make it to the final stages.

You don’t like Harry Potter? What went wrong?
Very good tips!

I agree 100%. I’m a writer, and I was thinking the same thing throughout the video. It’s all excellent advice for any creative pursuit.
Great job, Paul.

You don’t like Harry Potter! NOOOOO!!!
…just kidding. haha.
Great tips- I’ve been there and done that on some of those things where I lost my musical ideas. It’s pretty frustrating when you lose something that was amazing the first time and you didn’t record it!
